Click here to listen to the music in a popup player (opens new window) I should tell you something about these songs. Track 1 - A Two Hour Love Affair - Imagine meeting someone in a hurricane of romance, and then forgetting what they look like. This is the 2010 version with strings and brass. Track 2 - The Feeling - This is my 1980's pastiche and it's all about having a hangover. If you've ever spent a Sunday wandering around your own house as if you don't know where anything is, you'll appreciate this one. Track 3 - My Straight Line - A short and sweet little number about the early part of a relationship in the modern text-messaging world. Track 4 - Browns - this jaunty little number is about having your heart broken in a pub. It's as jaunty as a barrel of excited squirrels, though, so get stuck in. Track 5 - Program 99 - A song about those little moments when you hear some music that reminds you of a certain place, time, or person. Music is one of the very few things that can take you back in time in quite that way. Tracks 6-9 - This was me being inteviewed at BBC Radio Tees in January 2006 (when it was still called BBC Radio Cleveland and I was still married), and I played a couple of songs, namely Rufus Wainwright's Oh What A World and my Decent Proposal, which is a straightforward boy meets girl kind of song. I also talk about where I came from and what I used to do when I was younger. |
